A Special Event: An Evening at the Eric Sloane Museum

Eric Sloane: American Modern
@ the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, CT
Exhibit runs June 12 – September 11, 2026
You’re familiar with Duchamp, Pollock, Calder, Stankiewicz, Johns, Nevelson, Rauschenberg, and Kosuth as giants of Modern Art, but what about Eric Sloane? This fascinating, historical, and immersive experience challenges visitors to view Sloane as a Modernist, something the artist would have vehemently denied. On display are replicas of Sloane’s sculpture and his “Placements” – the artist’s response to the Modernist movement. Exhibit creator and author Wil Mauch will give a brief talk on Eric Sloane’s relationship to the Modern Art movement.
Opening and closing nights, June 12th and September 11, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm will include a special program, part of the Night at the Museum events. Refreshments will be served, and there will be time for questions related to any aspect of Sloane’s life and work. There will be a silent auction of Sloane-related items 6/12 and 9/11. Pre-Registration is required. For ticket information and to register, see the Eric Sloane Museum website or email: ericsloane.museum@ct.gov. 100% of sales go to the Friends of the Eric Sloane Museum and donations are gratefully accepted.
